Beautiful food! Lovely staff! Great experience late at night :) would love to visit again and again!

Nourriture simple (grillade de poisson ou de viande servie avec une salade et pommes de terre ou riz) mais bonne. Tout est fait maison. Accueil très chaleureux (la propriétaire parle français, si ça peut aider certains), on est au petit soin chez eux 🙂

I found Grelhador de Alfama to be one of the most charming and tasty (and authentic) meals I had in Portugal. Charming and welcoming owners and environment, great fresh food (come hungry). Just order what's fresh and have them grill it up with their tasty sides and you'll leave full, charmed, and happy.

Nice place with live traditional music. The food is below average.

Very good food and the owners were the most friendly and kind people in Lisbon. We came back the other day and got a taste of the freshly made white wine as promised by the owner the day before. We will come back in the future.

The spruiker was lovely but the food wasn't. 10 euro for a 3 euro meal. Move on.

Awful food. I ordered the octopus and it was rubbery, undercooked, and tasteless. The grilled sardines were way over cooked. I went home and had a can of sardines that tasted better.

Strange place. The lady (owner I think?) tries to get people inside in a very annoying way. Result: an almost empty restaurant. Meat was ok. There was a hair dryer (?!) in the grill room, probably to get the fire of the grill going. If that’s the case, please hide the thing because it looks ridiculous and not hygienic. And like others have already mentioned: you will get some starters served at your table. If you touch it, you pay it.

We had a nice meal here on our last night in Lisbon, so I was shocked to see these negative reviews, and I disagree with them. This is a small & charming family owned restaurant, with a husband & wife team running it. The food is simple & delicious, don't expect fancy dishes, it's just simple meats grilled on their barbecue out front with a side of salad, rice, or potatoes depending on what you order. The service was friendly. And to all the people complaining about the appetizers, wake up and learn a little about Portugal, every restaurant here places appetizers on your table without you asking, and IF you choose to eat it, you'll be charged for it. If you don't want it, don't eat it and ask the waiter to take it away, simple. Don't leave a negative review on an otherwise nice restaurant just because you're uninformed.

Great food traditional Portuguese fish and meat

Decidimos entrar a este restaurante porque la propietaria nos encandiló en la entrada. Es un restaurante hogareño, típico portugués. La comida en general es aceptable, aunque, en nuestro caso, las sardinas que tomamos estaban muy secas y el chorizo “de cortesía” no era bueno.Una vez sentados, leímos los comentarios sobre el restaurante y nos asustamos un poco. No obstante, la experiencia final ha sido aceptable. Le comentamos a los propietarios que las sardinas no estaban buenas, y nos descontaron el precio del chorizo. En total: 43€ por una bandeja de pan, 1 dorada, 5 sardinas, 1 parrillada de carne (6 trozos), 1 botella de vino de la casa (gratis y bueno) y 1 botella de agua.

This is very good . Its fish grils are fantasti.

Cant recommend. Very shady place. They serve appetizer even without asking. We ordered fish which was average. The service isn't included in the price, which they informed when we ordered the bill. Not a very good experience.

Tourist trap! While customers are lured in with cheap main courses, appetizers and beverages are prohibitively expensive. Food is subpar, in particular the house wine is terrible.

Great experience- the owners (I think) were very nice and welcoming to me and my husband. The mixed grill was awesome. Best meat I’ve had in Portugal so far!

Litlle place that's not very fashionable, it's just very pragmatic. They re-use an old fridge to store items. They serve the best saucage I've ever tasted! If you like meat, this is the place for you! :-)Goncalves is the best host, very kind and amicable.

The Place to eat real charcoal grilled meat or fish. Fair service, clean and well informed about fee for side dishes (just had to look to the menu 😁). Grilled fresh chorizo is a must for fans.

Absolutely disgusting and filthy. Plates and glasses haven't seen soap or water for years. The tapa they bring with the beer cheese chorizo bread without asking they charge for (and quite expensively) but when our grilled sea bass and sea bream came it was revolting. Not sure where they get the so called fresh fish from or how they store it but the smell was acidic and completely off and the taste (my brave sister tried a nano-gram of hers) was just too nasty. We immediately gave it back and luckily weren't charged for it. The lady's reaction was: 'you are absolutely right, your fish was off; we checked out stock and realized only yours was off, the rest are absolutely fine...'Yea, sure.... NEVER GO THEREIt ruined our stomach and didn't want to try fish anywhere else

Can't recommend this restaurant.Decided to go this restaurant impulsively by the offer on the window, discounting the price of day's fish. The appetizers were served despite we did not order them. The waiter however notified us that the food would cost extra if eated. The main course was to me more alike lunch quality, but with the dinner price tag. Finally the desert (sweet rice pudding) was offered with a smile, without a notice of possible cost.Our bill included the puddings and main course with a normal price. After commenting the bill, a new corrected one was delivered very smoothly without any arguments. Almost like there was initially printed 2 different bills and we were tested first with higher one.

Dont like the meal. Staff puts on table some kind of apperitizes and doesnt tell that we should pay for them.

The food was great, we had a grilled fish combo for two and everything was delicious, the staff is very accommodating good environment and we enjoyed alot. Thanks

Food was good, we shared the fish platter for 2 which included sardines, dori and sea bass. Cutlery and plates weren’t the cleanest. We wouldn’t return.

Our experience was very pleasant. The food was the best grilled food I had in Portugal. Owner and cook are very friendly. If you want authentic Portuguese food go here and you will enjoy a delicious meal. The sausage is a must have. Overall amazing.

One of the last ‘Tourist Trap’ in the whole Portugal. Despite Tripadvisor, Google, The Fork ecc...they manage to survive the ‘reviews era’. Congrats for that! Unfortunately the place where I planned to dine was closed and I eventually got trapped into this ‘Tourist Trap’ as I was walking through. They should serve pre-cooked frozen meals and boxed wine...it’s cheaper, tastes better and they will avoid bad reviews like this one

Loved eating here! Super reasonable prices for food and drink. Everything cooked on open coals outside by a chef that seems to get progressively as the night goes on.Everyone should visit this venue and spend an evening with the locals

They ask - red or white? And then, some meat or fish? That's all! And it's great. Just don't be snobbish - enjoy the small simple things. Love this place.

One of the best places we ate during our week stay in Lisbon. The simple menu of "meat or fish" and the simplicity yet incredible flavor of the food made this place stand out so much we went back twice. The meat was either grilled steak or pork, and the fish was a fresh catch grilled whole, and frankly you couldn't go wrong with one choice or the other. Service was excellent and friendly, price was very fair for the huge portions we received. the atmosphere made it feel like a place that only locals had the know about and the food confirmed that hunch. Would absolutely recommend for anyone traveling in Lisbon.

Hello,Seeing a Trip Advisor logo on the window and that some people are inside (which are usually good signs), my friend and I decided that this is a good place. What a huge mistake! The lady and her husband seem to be very attentive, however all they care is your money. The food was bad (very greasy) and expensive relative to what you pay in Lisbon. We did not like anything there. Also, info for the first timers in Portugal: in this restaurant they bring snacks, e.g. bread, etc. and you have to pay for them (although you realize it when they bring the bill ;] - very odd trap for new tourists in Portugal). Also, I find myself this way of earning money unhygienic when they bring the food that you do not order and if you decline then what? They bring it to the other table and you do not know how many people touched this food. I do not recommend this place to anyone keeping in mind that there are plenty of other good restaurants to spend a nice evening.

Great place to eat. I eat mixed grill it was also gluten and milk free. The staff was very friendly and askes several times everything was oke.

The owners are very mean and try to give you things you don't order. They also don't tell you that the burnt sausage on the table costs $10. I would completely avoid this place. It smells good but be warned... The menu is meat or fish Only and you aren't allowed to order what you want... They say "meat or fish" I guess it is a mystery.

From reading the complaints people don’t like to be told what is the fish of the day. Well you should take what is fresh, and it is super delicious. Best octopus I have had in my life.

We escaped just in time! Now having read previous reviews we were lucky! As usual lady ushered us in from the street , we sat down , some awful cheese and bread arrived, sent away after my significant other told me it was not free! Where is the menu and service! Eventually chap comes other saying meat or fish, eh what! Not good enough, where's the menu, no sausage as promised either? What a shambles, menu pinched from other table, it's filthy! Not having this, we walked out - We read previous reviews, phew what a lucky escape! Where is the health inspector here! This place should be offed.

Fantastic, simple food the way it should be. Delicious. All you need in Lisbon. Beautiful people serving with many smiles. No weird codfish mashups, just plain fish meat or sausage from the grill.

That's right, they bild the tapas but it's normal in Lisbonne, but great cheese and grilled chorizo !!! Good food and fresh, on grill... not that much choice but that's the reason how fresh it is. 10€ for a meal in an European capital looks great to me.
